Derek D. Malan (JD '00) appointed Ventura Superior Court Commissioner

August 30, 2016 -- Pepperdine Law alumnus Derek D. Malan (JD '00) has been appointed Commissioner by the judges of the Ventura Superior Court.  Commissioner Malan was previously a Senior Deputy District Attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.  He assumed his new duties on August 8.

Commissioner Malan has been a Senior Deputy District Attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office since 2007. Prior to that, he was a Deputy District Attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office from 2000 to 2007.

Most recently, he was a member of the District Attorney's Major Crimes Unit – Narcotics where he was assigned to a multi-agency task force targeting domestic and international drug-trafficking organizations. Previous assignments have included the Serious and Violent Felony Unit, Sexual Assault/Family Protection Unit, Major Crimes Unit – Gang Violence Suppression, Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force, and General Felony/Misdemeanor Trial Unit.

Commissioner Malan is a graduate of the University of Washington and earned his law degree from the Pepperdine University School of Law.
