Ronald F. Phillips, dean emeritus of Pepperdine Caruso Law and senior vice chancellor of Pepperdine University, comments in the Law.com article, "Ahead of the Curve: Calling Her 'a Force and a Standard,' Legal Academics Pay Tribute to Sandra Day O'Connor." The publication reached out to the legal community for comments honoring the former Supreme Court justice. Justice O'Connor spoke at the 1985 Annual Pepperdine Caruso Law School Dinner. 

Excerpt from "Ahead of the Curve: Calling Her 'a Force and a Standard,' Legal  Academics Pay Tribute to Sandra Day O'Connor"

“Pepperdine University School of Law spent a most memorable day with Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor in the winter of 1985,” Ronald F. Phillips, senior vice chancellor of Pepperdine University and former dean of Pepperdine University School of Law (1970 to 1997), said in a statement emailed to Law.com.

He talked about the law school hosting a luncheon followed by the Law School’s Vincent S. Dalsimer Moot Court Competition final round, for which Justice O’Connor served as Presiding Justice, where she was joined on the bench by California Supreme Court Chief Justice Malcolm Lucas and Justice Thomas Reavley of the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, both of whom were on the Law School’s Board of Visitors, adding that “The visit by Justice O’Connor will not be forgotten.”
