Deanell Tacha speaks at American Political Science Association

Tacha speaks today at the American Political Science Association 2017 Annual Meeting and Exhibition.  The meeting, "The Quest for Legitimacy: Actors, Audiences, and Aspirations," is being held on August 31 through September 3, in San Francisco.  Dean Tacha is participating on a panel "Challenges to the Rule of Law," sponsored by the Federalist Society.

Among legal scholars and political scientists, there are competing conceptions about what, exactly, the rule of law is with respect to modern American governance. Does the modern administrative state threaten the rule of law? Do special interest groups? What roles do Congress, the Executive, and the Judiciary play in upholding or undermining the rule of law? Is the rule of law an essential predicate for economic growth? Can the freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights persist in the absence of the rule of law? This roundtable discussion will explore these and related questions.
