Ken Starr Institute Managing Director Colten Stanberry (JD '19) Selected for Georgetown Center for the Constitution Research Fellowship

Colten Stanberry (JD ’19), managing director of the Ken Starr Institute for Faith, Law, and Public Service at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, has received a research fellowship with the Georgetown Center for the Constitution. The research fellowship supports early-career academics whose scholarship focuses on constitutional law or constitutional theory. Over the course of their fellowship, fellows work closely with senior scholars in their field to produce original research, participate in seminars, and advance key conversations.

Colten Stanberry is the Managing Director of the Ken Starr Institute at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where he teaches courses on Law and Religion. His research draws on history to inform questions arising in constitutional adjudication, with a current focus on the Religion Clauses and parental rights.

Earlier in his career, Colten clerked for the Honorable Allison Jones Rushing on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Honorable Lavenski Smith on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He also worked as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and continues to practice at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. 

Colten holds his J.D., summa cum laude, from Pepperdine, where he served as the Editor in Chief of the Pepperdine Law Review and graduated valedictorian of his class.
