Champions Named in the 2018 Moriarity First-Year Moot Court Competition

March 29, 2018 | On Wednesday, March 28, Justices Tricia Bigelow, Lamar Baker, and Lee Edmon (California Second District Court of Appeal) presided over the final round of the Moriarity First-Year Moot Court Competition. Rebecca Ferrari and Lauren Jacobs argued on behalf of the Plaintiff-Appellant, while Amber Les and Talia Lux argued on behalf of the Defendants-Appellees. Both teams presented the cases with confidence and demonstrated strong advocacy skills.

Before announcing the winning team, Presiding Justice Edmon commended both teams for displaying poise and articulate arguments. "You should be very proud of where you've come and what you have done today," said Justice Edmon. Justice Baker added, "I might have guessed that you were practicing lawyers!"

After what was a decidedly difficult decision for the bench, Amber Les and Talia Lux were named champions.

Pepperdine Law's moot court competition is named for School of Law supporters Col. John and the late Maria Moriarity. The first place team members each receive a $500 award and the second place team members each received a $250 award. Congratulations to the team of Les and Lux!
