Summer Connection Series: Pepperdine Caruso Law Online Celebrates Spring Graduates

This spring, the Pepperdine Caruso Law Online Program welcomed 48 new graduates into its rapidly growing community of alumni. While a formal commencement ceremony was unable to take place due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the graduating class gathered on Zoom for a "You Did It!" celebration. After nearly 900 hours of online instruction, they are experts at the platform, afterall! In his address to the graduates, Assistant Dean Jason Jarvis said, "Embrace that you accomplished a great and sometimes difficult thing. I am amazed at the focus and ability of our students in the program."

The graduates in attendance were treated to a quick trip down memory lane of their time in the program, including memories from on-campus residencies and a tour of Downtown LA. And who could forget the behemoth of a charcuterie board at the Malibu welcome party?

Dean of Students Naomi Goodno joined the celebration and reminded the graduates that they are a class of grit and greatness. She said, "I have always respected our online students and graduates in particular. You are balancing so much in your lives when you took on this program, and you did it, and get this...You did it in a pandemic! It shows incredible grit that you have made it, and not only did you do it with grit, but you did it with grace! You are the epitome of what it means to be a grace under pressure, and it has been just a joy to see you grow!"

Even in a time of uncertainty and economic challenges, graduates of the Pepperdine Caruso Online Law Program have a great future in store. With a Master's degree now in hand coupled with an expertise in online learning, graduates hold an advantage in the evolving marketplace.

We look forward to celebrating this class in person as soon as it is safe, and congratulations to all of you – YOU DID IT!
