The Colonel John L. and Maria Moriarity First-Year Moot Court Competition came to a close on Thursday, April 7, 2016.  The distinguished final round bench included Judge John Doyle of the Los Angeles County Superior Court and Judges Ryan Wright and Michael Lief of the Ventura County Superior Court.  The round took place in the Mendenhall Appellate Courtroom, where Hilary Davenport and Adam Sherman faced off against Annika Mizel and Kevin Reddington.  A reception followed in the law school atrium, where Sydney Weiss, Chair of the Pepperdine Moot Court Board, announced that Mizel and Reddington had won the competition.

"The final round was very close, and I would also like to congratulate and acknowledge Hilary Davenport and Adam Sherman on an incredible final round.  Congratulations to you all," said Weiss.

The Moriarity Moot Court competition takes place every spring, and is one of several moot court competitions hosted by the Moot Court Board, which consists of second- and third-year students who have an interest in appellate advocacy. Pepperdine Law's Legal Research and Writing professors prepare the problem and bench brief for the Moriarty competition.
