Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law's TwelfTH Annual Wm. Matthew Byrne, Jr. Judicial Clerkship InstituteMarch 15 - 16, 2012
Message from the Director
Pepperdine's Wm. Matthew Byrne, Jr., Judicial Clerkship Institute continues its close
ties with the federal judiciary as we welcome
with excitement our new dean, Deanell Reece Tacha, formerly with the Tenth Circuit
Court of Appeals. We are so pleased to be working with the American Bankruptcy Institute
(ABI) and the Federal Judicial Center (FJC) in order to offer special sessions for
bankruptcy clerks and career clerks. This year, the FJC will sponsor 40 career clerks
and the ABI will sponsor 25 bankruptcy clerks. We hope to enroll not more than 90
federal term clerks from across the country who will be beginning a federal clerkship
at the appellate, district, or magistrate court level. Through the generosity of Judge
Byrne's former law clerks and other friends of the Judge and Pepperdine University,
we have travel scholarship money available to fund a limited number of new clerks
from other law schools. We appreciate the continued support of students, current federal
clerks, judges, and professors who help make this conference great, year after year.
