Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law's ELEVENTH Annual Wm. Matthew Byrne, Jr. Judicial Clerkship InstituteMarch 17 - 19, 2011
Message from the Director
This year we will celebrate our 11th Anniversary of the Wm. Matthew Byrne, Jr. Judicial Clerkship Institute (Byrne JCI). During the past decade, the Byrne JCI has trained more than 865 judicial clerks representing more than 130 law schools, making the event an unparalleled resource for promoting the administration of justice in our federal courts.
Our stellar faculty, with several returning members, represents federal district, circuit, and bankruptcy courts along with academic institutions. Although we are sad that Justice Sonia Sotomayor will not join us this year after serving for the past four years, we congratulate her on her new position and look forward to seeing her at Pepperdine again in the near future.
We also celebrate our new partnership with the Federal Judicial Center (FJC). Together we will co-sponsor future conferences and activities to benefit the continuing education of judicial clerks. Our existing relationship with the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) has been extremely successful, and we appreciate so much the support from executive director Sam Gerdano.
As we continue to better our program, we hope to develop additional support for career clerks and international activities and look forward to expanding our resources in conjunction with the ABI, FJC, and others. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about the Byrne JCI or any suggestions for our future conferences and activities.
