Financial Aid Terms and Conditions
Financial aid awards are subject to change if the information reported on the FAFSA is different from the information reported on federal income tax returns and/or other verification documents. Financial aid awards may be adjusted in coordination with any other aid, such as outside scholarships not yet reported to the Caruso School of Law Office of Financial Assistance.
Financial aid awards are based on full-time enrollment during fall and spring semesters. Financial aid awards are estimated, and may be adjusted at any time upon review of student's eligibility and enrollment status.
Students awarded the Faculty Scholars and/or Dean's Merit scholarship can have it renewed for future semesters as long as they are enrolled in JD classes, and remain in the top half of their class at the end of the academic year. If the percentage of students receiving a Dean's Merit Scholarship is greater than one-half of the class, the renewal point will be the same percentage as those receiving the Dean's Merit Scholarship.
The Dean's Excellence Scholarship is renewable for returning students as long as they remain in good academic standing.
The President's Scholarship is renewable for returning students enrolled in JD classes as long as they submit a letter from an elder or minister at a local Church of Christ congregation annually.
Students awarded a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford, Graduate PLUS or a Private/Alternative loan must complete the online loan application process.
New Federal Direct Stafford and Graduate PLUS loan borrowers must complete an Entrance Counseling Session before loan funds can be disbursed to the student account. Students can conduct Entrance Counseling Sessions online directly from the Caruso School of Law website or by clicking on the link in the Student Service Center.
Federal Direct Graduate PLUS and Private Loans are based on credit worthiness, and are subject to the approval of the lender. Students with adverse credit may be required to provide a credit-worthy co-signer.
By accepting a Direct Graduate PLUS loan on the student's financial aid award, the student consents to the U.S. Department of Education and its agents obtaining a report of their credit record and using the information from that report in determining whether to make a Direct PLUS Loan to the student. The student understands that they will be notified in writing of the results of the credit check with respect to their loan application.
Federal and/or Private Loans can only be used for educational expenses associated with your attendance at the Caruso School of Law.
Pepperdine University will credit the student's account with the financial aid awards listed on the Award Notification Letter, including federal, institutional, and private aid. After all funds have been credited to the student's account, any financial aid funds in excess of tuition will be refunded directly to the student by the Student Accounts Office, approximately two weeks after the first day of classes each term.
