Professor Kris Knaplund Presents The Unintended Consequences for Dynastic Trusts

American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Fall Meeting


Professor Kristine S. Knaplund presented "The Unintended Consequences for Dynasty Trusts When Adoptions Are Not Recognized" at the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Fall Meeting. Professor Knaplund discussed that many statutes include express language excluding adopted children, not realizing that, in certain cases of assisted reproduction, a person may adopt his or her own genetic child. The meeting took place on October 28 in Washington, D.C.
