Pepperdine Caruso Law Professor Bernard James Leads Keynote Session at National School Safety Conference

Pepperdine Caruso Law Professor Bernard James led the keynote session at the 2021 National School Safety Conference held in Aurora, Colorado, in July. The conference was hosted by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), the leading organization for school-based policing. Professor James is a contributing editor to the NASRO Journal of School Safety.

During the conference keynote session, titled “School Law Update,” Professor James addressed the effects of new laws and budget cuts on police officers and school resource officers who support K-12 education.

Professor James’s recent scholarly contribution to the subject of school safety is the five-part series Restorative Justice Liability: School Discipline Reform and the Right to Safe Schools, published in the University of Memphis Law Review.
