Introducing Daniel DeWalt, New Assistant Director of Parris Institute for Professional Formation

Pepperdine Law is pleased to welcome Daniel J. DeWalt as the first Assistant Director of the Parris Institute for Professional Formation. The Parris Institute was established this year by a million-dollar gift to the School of Law and is dedicated to the professional development of first-year students. DeWalt joins Deans Sturgeon and Brandt and Professor Schultz in implementing the new institute, to launch this fall.

"I have had Pepperdine in my heart since I first went to basketball camp here when I was twelve," DeWalt says. "During these past four years of teaching as an adjunct at Pepperdine Law School, I have come to know and love the special place that it is and it is a great honor for wife Amy and I to join the team and be a part of shaping young leaders."

DeWalt has been a partner of Goff & DeWalt, LLP, for the past sixteen years, emphasizing construction defect, condominium law, and homeowner association law. He is a member of the State Bar of Washington, the King County Bar Association, the Pierce County Bar Association, and Washington State Trial Lawyers Association. He has taught at Pepperdine Law as an adjunct professor with his law partner and friend, Bob Goff, for the past four years.

He is also the Vice President of Restore International, which focuses on human rights efforts in Southern India and Africa, including the restoration of oppressed children. In addition to his juris doctorate from Cal Western, DeWalt holds a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University. He and his wife Amy recently co-authored a book, "High Octane Marriage: Experience the Power of God's Design."
