Father Gregory Boyle to Lead Caruso School of Law Dean's Speaker Series

Father Greg BoyleOn Thursday, March 31, at 12:30 PM, Father Gregory Boyle from Los Angeles–based Homeboy Industries, one of the largest prisoner re-entry programs in the world, will present “The Whole Language: The Power of Extravagant Tenderness” in this installment of the Caruso School of Law Dean’s Speaker Series. Boyle will share his experience in three decades working with marginalized populations.

A native Angeleno and Jesuit priest, from 1986 to 1992 Father Boyle served as pastor of Dolores Mission Church in Boyle Heights, then the poorest Catholic parish in Los Angeles that also had the highest concentration of gang activity in the city. In 1988 Boyle and the parish started what would eventually become Homeboy Industries, focused on confronting law enforcement tactics and mass incarceration through supporting former gang members holistically through job training, mentorship, and more.

This event is sponsored by the Steven and Kim DeLorenz Speakers Fund. To learn more and to register to attend, visit the Dean’s Speaker Series event announcement.
