Housed within Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, the Sudreau Global Justice Institute
is a rule of law organization seeking to make access to justice a reality for all
people, everywhere, and train the next generation of globally-minded advocated for
sustainable change.
Law Student Opportunities
Global Summer Internships
Through Global Summer Internships, students clerk with national judiciaries across Africa, gaining hands-on experience inside real justice systems.
Students may also join a Prison Project, working on real cases inside correctional
facilities and witnessing the impact of acess to justice firsthand.

Classes
SGJI courses are tought by experienced legal practitioners and leaders working at the forefront of global justice initiatives, like Gary Haugen and former ambassador John Cotton Richmond.
These classes combine strong legal foundations with insight drawn from real-world
practice. Students gain a deeper understanding of how justice systems function while
developing the skills needed to navigate complex global challenges.

Spring Break Prison Project
During the Spring Break Prison Project, students tavel to Africa to work alongside local attorneys, judges, and legal practitioners inside correctional facilities. They engage directly with clients and contribute to real legal work.
Through this experience, students encounter justice not as a theory, but in practice,
gaining a deeper understanding of how systems function and the tangible impact to
access to justice can have in people's lives.

Prison Project
Prison Projects give students and attorneys the unique opportunity to step inside
correctional facilities in Africa and work on active cases alongside local and legal
practitioners. It is an immersive, high-impact experience that places participants
at the center of urgent need.
