Two Victories in Two Weeks for Justice Clinic Students

Restoration and Justice Clinic Law Students Secure Victories

Third year law students Kristine Toma and Armando Lopez helped a human trafficking victim secure a dismissal of her bench warrant in New Orleans and persuaded the District Attorney to dismiss felony criminal charges against her because she was a human trafficking victim at the time. The District Attorney was happy to work with the Pepperdine Restoration and Justice Clinic, and the Judge’s clerk complimented the students stating how she was very impressed with their work and found their presentation of the case to be “very compelling and very good advocacy.”

Lopez and Toma also secured a second victory in the Santa Monica Courthouse where they helped their client obtain a 5-year domestic violence restraining order.
