Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution Named #1 Program in the Nation in U.S. News & World Report Law School Rankings

The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law tops the rankings for the thirteenth time in fourteen years

March 30, 2018—The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law has been named number one among academic dispute resolution programs in the U.S. News and World Report 2019 Best Law Schools rankings. Released last week, the rankings placed Straus at the top of the list for the thirteenth time in fourteen years.

Professor Tom Stipanowich, Professor of Law and Associate Dean leading the Straus Institute, attributes the Institute's continued success to three factors. "Straus has the advantages of a state-of-the-art curriculum taught by leading scholars and practitioners, an encouraging and helpful dean, and, above all, a phenomenal staff that works hard to provide a highly supportive environment for a diverse population of students from around the world," said Stipanowich.

The Straus Institute offers academic degrees in the form of a certificate, Master of Dispute Resolution, and LLM, providing lawyers and non-law professionals the opportunity to learn to manage conflict beyond the courtroom in a variety of settings. The Institute’s award-winning faculty members also conduct professional skills training on six continents, providing negotiation, mediation, and dispute resolution skills training programs for law firms, bar associations, governmental agencies, judiciaries, and community groups.

The Institute announced this week that it will deliver its popular Master of Dispute Resolution in an online format in order to make the degree more widely available. The program is designed for mid-career and executive level professionals interested in growing their careers by learning how to resolve office conflicts and defuse employee, customer, and community disputes before they begin.
