Pepperdine-Straus Inn of Court Presents Program on Civil Rights Mediation in Law Enforcement

The Pepperdine-Straus Inn of Court presented Civil Rights Mediation in Law Enforcement, featuring Arif Alikhan, the LAPD’s Director of Constitutional Policing and Rick Copeland, a civil rights mediator in private practice and a Straus alumnus. The event was moderated by Professor Stephanie Blondell.  The presentation covered cutting-edge issues in law enforcement mediation, including the impact of body-worn cameras on policing, as well as the impact of the opioid epidemic, immigration, and mental health education on community conflict. The panel explored the intersection of restorative justice, community healing and law enforcement's role in social order.
