Greg Reitz

Greg Reitz is Principal and Co-Founder of REthink Development, a development and consulting company focused on sustainable, LEED-certified projects. He applies his knowledge of cost-effective green building strategies to all of REthink's projects.

Greg entered the real estate industry as Green Building Consultant for E2, where he worked with world-renowned sustainable development consultant John Picard to design a sustainable master-planned community.  Greg then became the Green Building Advisor for the city of Santa Monica, where he was responsible for overseeing all green building activities and programs. During his tenure there, Santa Monica went from having no LEED-certified buildings to having more LEED buildings per capita than any other city in the country.

A LEED Accredited Professional and an emeritus board member of the Los Angeles chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Greg was the founding chair of the Southern California Public Agencies Council for Green Building and was elected to the national USGBC Green Codes Committee. He has supported the efforts of many cities across the state – including Los Angeles, West Hollywood and Culver City – in developing green building programs.

As a principal for REthink Development, Greg was responsible for the ensuring Rethink's Cherokee Studios mixed use project in Hollywood was designed to achieve LEED Platinum. He has also consulted for the first LEED for Existing Buildings hotel in the country, The Ambrose, in Santa Monica,

Greg is frequently a featured speaker at green building conferences, including Dwell on Design, AltBuild, CA Boom, Congress for the New Urbanism, League of California Cities and many others.

Before entering the field of green building, Greg helped start businesses in the high-tech industry, including multinational Velodea, Inc., and was a Customer Relationship Management/Business Process Reengineering Consultant for Andersen Consulting. Greg has a Bachelor of Science degree in Cybernetics from UCLA.
