
Emily Keifer
Biography
Professor Keifer teaches Legal Research and Writing and supervises the Moot Court Board. She received her law degree from Stanford University, after which she clerked for the Honorable Nina Gershon of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Honorable Chester J. Straub of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Before teaching at Pepperdine, Professor Keifer served for eight years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of California, where she prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases throughout all stages of factual investigation and development, pretrial litigation, plea negotiation, trial, sentencing, and appeal. Those cases included a wide variety of offenses involving public corruption, RICO, narcotics, alien smuggling, immigration, tax evasion, stalking, child pornography, identity theft, and fraud. Earlier in her career, Professor Keifer worked as an associate at the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, D.C.
