Woodie Tescher is the Principal Technical Director for Planning + Urban Design for PBS&J. Mr. Tescher is recognized for his leadership in advancing the principles of sustainability, smart growth, and transit-oriented development in community planning and urban design projects for private and municipal clients. Representing his assignments are the Los Angeles General Plan Framework, Exposition Rail Jefferson-La Cienega Boulevards Station Transit-Oriented Development Plan, Anaheim Fixed Guideway Land Use and Urban Design Plan, and comprehensive general plans for the cities of Sacramento, Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, West Hollywood, Corona, Agoura Hills, Simi Valley, San Clemente, Huntington Beach, and the County of San Diego. He was the lead planner for Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade Specific Plan, Long Beach's East Village Arts District Guide for Development, and San Gabriel's Valley Boulevard Neighborhoods Sustainability Specific Plan. Additionally, Mr. Tescher facilitated the preparation of concept plans for the development of an integrated campus and community for the recently developed University of California at Merced.
Mr. Tescher is a member of the California Planning Roundtable and the recipient of the American Planning Association California Chapter's Distinguished Planner Award, the Planner Emeritus Network's Award of Honor, and UCLA Extension's Distinguished Instructor Award. He has also received numerous professional awards for general and specific plans prepared under his guidance.
Mr. Tescher received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California and Master of Architecture, Urban Design degree from UCLA. He teaches numerous courses for UCLA Extension and lectures frequently in the public policy and architecture programs of UCLA and USC.
