Hotel Palomar (Los Angeles)
The Hotel Palomar brings Kimpton's award-winning environmentally responsible practices
to Los Angeles. Hotel Palomar Los Angeles incorporates more than 40 eco-friendly practices
into its daily operations. Among them are in-room recycling bins; energy-efficient
lighting; water-efficient fixtures; toiletries made from natural ingredients by earth-friendly
manufacturers; organic food and beverage options in its mini-bars; and a restaurant
that follows the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch's sustainable seafood guidelines. In recognition
of these and other efforts, the California Environmental Protection Agency recently
awarded Kimpton its most prestigious ecological honor, the Governor's Environmental
and Economic Leadership Award, which goes to businesses that focus on preserving the
state's resources. EarthCare, Kimpton's company-wide environmentally friendly program,
includes protocols that preserve water, energy, land and air without sacrificing service,
style or comfort.

The Orchard Garden Hotel (San Francisco)
The Orchard Garden Hotel was the first California hotel awarded LEED (Leadership in
Energy & Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The
Orchard Garden was the third hotel in the U.S. and fourth in the world with this certification.
The 86-room boutique hotel is set in the heart of San Francisco-just one block from
Union Square, steps away from the Chinatown gate and around the corner from the Financial
LEED Certification was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community. From the building's framework and construction practices, to guest room and public space lighting and decor, to housekeeping, the Orchard Garden Hotel boasts environmentally sustainable practices that are unmatched in the hospitality industry. Eco-friendly construction materials include concrete made with fly ash, a byproduct of recycling coal, and wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council as harvested in a sustainable manner. One environmentally sustainable building practice used during construction diverted debris from landfill disposal by redirecting recyclable material back to the manufacturing process.
