Legal Blog Post Writing Contest (ALL)

The Expert Institute invites you to participate in their writing contest. To participate, submit a 1,000 to 2,500 word blog-style article on the use of expert witnesses in litigation. Judging: The Expert Institute editorial staff, as well as a panel of practicing trial lawyers will judge the contest. Factors that will be considered during judgment include: clarity, style, and poise of writing, originality of topic, thoroughness of research and quality of analysis, and comprehensibility by lay and professional audiences. Constangy, Brooks & Smith Diversity Scholarship

Constangy, Brooks & Smith will grant a Diversity Scholars Award to a deserving second-year law student. The Firm initiated this program in 2005 in order to recognize the achievements of law students who have demonstrated their interest in diversity. Constangy, Brooks & Smith is a premier labor and employment law firm, representing management for companies nationwide since 1946. Selection criteria is based on academic achievement; commitment to diversity in the student’s community, school or work environment; and personal achievement in overcoming challenges to reach his or her goals. Terry Eaton Attorney at Law Scholarship

This diversity scholarship is a great opportunity for African American and Hispanic students from single-mother homes who are committed to pursuing a quality education and who have a demonstrated ability for overcoming adversity and challenges related to their backgrounds. This one-time $500 scholarship is open to law school students with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, a demonstrated financial need, a 1,000-word personal statement, a current unofficial transcript, and one Letter of Recommendation. JUSTICE HOLLIS G. BEST SCHOLARSHIP

As a memorial to the late Presiding Justice Hollis G. Best, his friends have established a scholarship to encourage and support outstanding academic achievement and commitment to service by law students. The Best Scholarship is an annual award presented this year in the amount of $1,000, during the Spring 2015 semester. More than one scholarship may be awarded. Each candidate must be a law student who has successfully completed at least one year of law school. Strong preference will be given to current residents of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare or Tuolumne Counties. Primary considerations are academic achievement, extracurricular and community activities; financial need and demonstrated leadership capabilities are also taken into consideration.
