Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition
All tuition is charged on a per unit basis for the Certificate, Master's, and LL.M. Degree Programs. Tuition for the 2008-2009 academic year is $1380 per unit.
Our academic programs consist of the following units; Certificate 14 units, Master's 32 units and LL.M. 28 units.
Financial Aid
Students in the Institute's degree programs have several financial assistance options for funding their professional education. Extensive student loan programs, as well as payment plans to spread tuition payments over the time students are in school, are available. Additional information regarding financial aid can be found at the Financial Aid site. Students participating in a joint degree program with Straus need to refer to the financial aid department of their home university for additional funding, including GSBM, GSEP, and SPP.
2008-2009 Dispute Resolution Fellowship Program
The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution is pleased to offer the Dispute Resolution Fellowship Program. Students admitted to or applying for admission to the LL.M. or Master’s of Dispute Resolution program are eligible to apply to be an Institute Fellow for the 2008-2009 academic year.
The Dispute Resolution Fellowship Program was envisioned to accomplish three objectives. They are to:
- Recognize outstanding students in the Master’s or LL.M. Degree Program;
- Advance the field of dispute resolution, including the Institute’s activities, by providing opportunities for Fellows to partner with the Institute on projects to advance the dispute resolution field; and
- Provide financial assistance
While Dispute Resolution Fellows will receive an annual tuition scholarship of up to $10,000, the program is not designed to be a traditional financial aid program. A committee of faculty and administrators from the Institute and the School of Law will review all applications. They will consider financial needs as only one of several criteria and focus substantially on the candidate’s capabilities in contributing to the dispute resolution field. Thus, it is important for applicants to articulate any special projects or talents that they could pursue in collaboration with the Institute to advance the dispute resolution field.
Dispute Resolution Fellows will be expected to work collaboratively with the Institute on projects that will advance the professional reputations of the individual as well as the reputation of the Institute and the School of Law. While the projects will be a collaborative effort, we anticipate a collegial relationship and expect independent initiative and judgment from the Fellows. Fellows should plan on contributing between 10 and 15 hours per week, on average, for their fellowship projects.
A Fellow shall serve for twelve months and usually commence at the beginning of the Fall semester. The deadline to apply for the 2008-2009 Dispute Resolution Fellowship Program is April 23, 2008. Students selected as Fellows from these applications will be able to apply their tuition benefits toward the Fall 2008, Winter Intensive 2009, Spring 2009 and Summer 2009 semesters. Applications should be submitted with the attached form. The Institute expects that Fellows will serve for only one year and will not be selected for a second Fellowship.
