Thomas Stipanowich, speaking to students preparing for the Asian Study Group spring trip, provides an introduction to the video conference conducted between the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC) and the Straus Institute of the Pepperdine University Law School. Tom shares with students a short history of the dialogue between Chinese and American ADR professionals, which became the genesis of the current relationship with the BAC. In this introduction, we learn of the BAC’s desire to satisfy western business needs by providing mediation services as well as arbitration.
