Madame Zhang speaks to the importance of training, as part of an official academic curriculum or in a continuing education setting. She discusses the need for elders and former CEO’s, experts in their respective fields, to train in mediation so they have both subject expertise and process expertise. Julian Holloway of the BAC is introduced. He speaks to the challenges of cross-border mediations and the need for a mediator to understand the language of both participants and their cultural differences. Straus panel members continue, focusing on training with comments about professional mediator organizations and panels that adopt continuing education requirements.
