BAC moderator Qiao Ganglaing introduces Yang Zaixue who addresses the important role that lawyers play in mediation, helping clients understand their rights and guiding them through the process. Nonetheless, he notes, on occasion conflicts of interest do arise between clients and their representatives. Madame Zhang comments on the mediator’s role in educating the parties and suggests using separate sessions to facilitate the client education process. John Bishop of the BAC continues the focus on the mediator’s role and the dynamics of working with attorneys in mediation.
