Professor Richard A. Epstein

Professor Epstein addressed Pepperdine Students, Faculty and Staff with his lecture, "The Mortgage (Or, Subprime) Meltdown: Why One Bad Decision Deserves Yet Another". Questions were presented for discussion by Pepperdine Professors Grant Nelson, Shelley Saxor and Mark Scarberry, and from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, Professor Dan S. Schector.

Richard A. Epstein is the James Parker Hall Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago, where he has taught since 1972. Prior to joining the University of Chicago Law School faculty, he taught law at the University of Southern California. He served as editor of the Journal of Legal Studies from 1981 to 1991, and of the Journal of Law and Economics from 1991to 2001. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Senior Fellow of the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago Medical School, and the Peter and Kirsten Bedfors Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution.

At present,Professor Epstein is the Director of the John M. Olin Program in Law and Economics, and expert on numerous areas of law including property, torts, land use, civil procedure, contract law, worker's comp, and Roman law.

William P. Foley, II is Chairman of the Board and CEO of Fidelity National Financial, Inc. (NYSE: FNF) and Executive Chairman of Fidelity National Information Services (NYSE: FIS).

Mr. Foley has always been generous with the time he devotes to educational and community organizations. He is currently serving as a Trustee on the Boards of The Bolles School, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. Bill's additional professional directorships include Winter Sports, Inc., Florida Rock Industries, Inc. and SCRIPPS Florida Funding Corporation.

Mr. Foley earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1967, after which he served in the U.S. Air Force and attained the rank of Captain. Bill also received an M.B.A. degree from Seattle University and attended the university of Washington School of Law, where he earned his J.D. degree in 1974.
