The Black Law Students Association of Pepperdine University School of Law (BLSA) is a student organization founded to articulate and promote the educational, professional, political, and social needs of Black law students at Pepperdine and the Black community at large. The organization undertakes this goal by providing student members with support, guidance, and tutelage in academic and professional endeavors. At Pepperdine University, BLSA strives to provide a supportive community that cultivates success. BLSA students compete annually in the National Black Law Students Association’s Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition.
The members of BLSA realize that Black law students and professionals have a duty to serve those within our community. Accordingly, BLSA participates in various community outreach programs throughout the year including feeding the homeless and mentoring youth.
The members of BLSA strive to magnify the voices of Black students at Pepperdine by maintaining a line of communication between BLSA, Pepperdine faculty and administration, and other student organizations. The organization is committed to proportional representation of people of color in academia and the legal profession. BLSA is also committed to maintaining a strong support network of Black legal professionals that includes the John M. Langston Bar Association; the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles; and Pepperdine faculty and alumni.
The Black Law Students Association of Pepperdine University School of Law is a local affiliate chapter of the National Black Law Students Association, Incorporated.
