MALIBU, CA -- The Straus Institute's largest professional skills program in almost three decades took place Thursday-Saturday, June 19-21, 2014. The annual event hosted 295 professionals and 19 faculty members, surpassing the 2004 total of 265 participants. Featuring a panel of nationally recognized experts in dispute resolution, the comprehensive program provided three days of unique educational opportunities for practicing professionals.
The Professional Skills Program in Dispute Resolution consists of 11 three-day courses addressing distinct dispute resolution processes, including: "STAR" - A Systematic Approach to Mediation Strategies; Advanced Mediation: Skills and Techniques; Family Law Mediation - When Time is Not on Your Side; Mediating Complex Construction Disputes; and Strategic Negotiation Skills. The event also allows networking with nationally prominent faculty and participants from the other specialties at plenary sessions, lunches, and receptions. Enrollment for each course is limited to ensure a close working relationship among the faculty and participants.
The 3rd Annual East Coast Professional Skills Program will take place in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 19-21, 2015. The Straus Institute will be partnering with the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law to host the event. For more information, see the program website.
