Students from Michigan State University
College of Law won the competition.
Twenty-four law schools gathered at Pepperdine University School of Law for the Tenth Annual National Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition Nov. 16 through 18.
Each team, comprising two or three students, argued an entertainment law problem in three preliminary rounds. A panel of judges graded the briefs, counting for 30 percent of the team score.
Michigan State University College of Law became national champion after advancing through all three rounds and winning the Best Petitioner Brief award. Team members were Whitney Baran, Clarene Dobronski, and Nicholas Lane. Baron took awards for Best Advocate in the final round and Third Place Advocate in the preliminary rounds.
Texas Wesleyan School of Law team members Brittany Lannen, Evan Flournoy, and Patrick Cannon were the finalist team, taking home the Second Place Petitioner Brief award. South Texas School of Law and Southern Methodist University were semifinalist teams, earning Third Place Petitioner Brief and Second Place Respondent Brief respectively.
