Ken Starr, Duane and Kelly Roberts Dean of the School of Law, and Tom Stipanowich, William H. Webster Chair in Dispute Resolution and academic director for the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, will participate in a law forum titled, "Global Commitment to the Rule of Law," from May 29-31 in Doha, Qatar.
In what has been called the "Legal G20," international leaders from across the globe will convene to discuss the administration of justice, the latest methods of dispute resolution, and legal education. The forum will also address the role of the law in meeting the world's current financial challenges.
Speakers include more than 14 serving chief justices representing 60 countries, the president-elect of the U.K. Supreme Court, the president of the European Court of Human Rights, the president of the International Court of Justice, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and distinguished academics from universities in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia.

Dean Starr will give a keynote address on "The Rule of Law Today," on May 30. "I look forward to discussing the rule of law today," says Dean Starr. "I feel a statement of basic human rights, standing alone, is insufficient to achieve rule-of-law values. Of inestimable importance are the twin characteristics of developing a culture of respect for the universality of law's application, enforced through mechanisms characterized by professionalism and substantive and procedural integrity."
Stipanowich will speak on the latest methods of dispute resolution.
The forum sponsored by the government of Qatar. For more information, visit the Web site.
