Pepperdine University School of Law hosted torts scholars, international law scholars, corporate counsel, judges, and practitioners at Pepperdine's Malibu Beach House on December 12.
The following individuals were in attendance: John Bellinger (legal adviser, Department of State), Makan Delrahim (Brownstein, Hyatt; former DAG Department of Justice), William Dodge (Hastings), Michael Green (Wake Forest), Paul Hoffman (Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris & Hoffman), Chimène Keitner (Hastings), Allen Linden (judge, Canadian Federal Court of Appeals), Anthony Sebok (Cardozo), and Ralph Steinhardt (GWU), in addition to Pepperdine professors Roger Alford, Trey Childress, Jack Coe, Rick Cupp, and Dean Ken Starr.
Rick Cupp, John W. Wade Professor of Law and associate dean for research, said the colloquium was a success. "The small group colloquium provided a model for deep learning and a meaningful exchange of ideas," he said. "The international law scholars, torts scholars, and practitioners all found the experience to be genuinely useful, and I think we all learned the most from those outside of our fields."
