Welcome

What could be more exciting than studying law at Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California? Studying law at Pepperdine at our London campus!  Pepperdine Law School's International Program in London has been approved by the American Bar Association since its inception in 1981. For more than 25 years, students from Pepperdine and other American law schools have enjoyed what is often referred to as "their best law school experience" - studying law at Pepperdine in London.

Pepperdine University School of Law offers a six week Summer Session (plus a final exam week) and full Fall Semester program in London, all at our own London facility, the Pepperdine London House located in the exceptionally nice Knightsbridge/South Kensington area of London. Students benefit from the fact that Pepperdine's Summer and Fall London Programs are run and operated solely by Pepperdine University School of law (and not in conjunction, partnership, or through the use ofanother educational institution).

In the summer of 2008, because of major renovations to the Pepperdine's London House, classes will be held at London's world-renowned Imperial College (located directly across the street from our London House).  For the fall 2008 semester program, and upon completion of the London House renovation project, classes will return to Pepperdine's London House.

In both sessions, students from Pepperdine University School of Law and other American law schools, are able to reside in London and take courses from two full-time Pepperdine professors and a number of outstanding London-based barristers, solicitors and American lawyers who serve as adjunct professors. Students may enroll in one or more of the terms but may not, under ABA guidelines, take more than one-third of their total law school units in overseas programs.

The program is structured so that students may complete certain core American law requirements while enriching their legal education with a variety of elective international and comparative law courses.  The 2008 summer American law course offerings are expected to include Constitutional Law (Fed State Powers) and Legal Ethics, with an International course curriculum of International Entertainment & Copyright Law and International Public Law.  For the 2008 fall semester, American course offerings are expected to include Federal Income Tax, Evidence and Community Property, with an international course contingent of European Union Law, International Comparative Law, and International Commercial Arbitration.

The program also includes a number of cultural and legal-related outings and trips designed to enhance the educational experience. In both sessions legal London visits are made and visits to the Palace of Westminster, more familiarly known as the Houses of Parliament. In the Fall additional tours are made to the international parliaments and courts in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg and a separate trip to the international courts at The Hague.

In the Fall students are also able to participate in a Moot Court competition against trainee barristers from the Inns of Court.
