Video in the Classroom: 3 Tips

Tip 1

Online video provides excellent content for the classroom; however, online sources are unreliable for live playback. For live video playback, the Information Services Group recommends downloading the file locally prior to class time for the best in class experience. For the popular website YouTube, we recommend the service saveyoutube.com. To use this service, just add the word "save" to the url for the video so that it reads saveyoutube, then navigate to that url. Download the video, save to your desktop, then double-click to view the movie.

Tip 2

Classrooms are equipped DVD/VCR combination units to take advantage of the Law Library's great DVD collection. Contact , Head of Public Services, to request any title. Search the available DVD titles in the library catalog.

Tip 3

Guest speakers from anywhere in the world can be brought directly into any classroom via video conference. The Information Services Group provides a wide selection of connection methods from Skype support to enterprise class video conferencing via our Polycom VSX8000. Email for assistance with the technical details.
