<title>Pepperdine Shows Strong on July 2011 CA Bar Exam</title>

<description>In the past five years, Pepperdine University School of Law has achieved high marks on the July California Bar Exams. The recent July 2011 results were no exception. The passage rate for all takers was 54.8 percent, and the passage rate for all first-time takers from California ABA-Approved Schools was 76 percent; Pepperdine, however, achieved an 86.26 percent passage rate of first-time takers of the California Bar Exam, and 89 percent overall, including out of state bar exams. School of Law students who took the exam out of state achieved a 100 percent pass rate, with all 30 passing.</description>

<description>The United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of Dean Kenneth Starr's clients, the speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives and the president of the Arizona Senate, on Thursday, June 25, in the case of Horne v. Flores. The case was initiated nearly two decades ago in 1992 and centered on the enforceability of a nine year-old injunction issued by a federal district judge in Arizona. The injunction was issued pursuant to the Equal Educational Opportunities Act, mandating that the state put in place an adequate funding system for its English-language education programs.

The Straus Institute bested the University of Missouri-Columbia, Hamline University, Harvard University, and Ohio State University, which comprise the remaining top five schools. In the last 13 years, the Straus Institute has never been lower than third and has achieved the Number One position eight times.</description>
