Expectations of Alumni
Mentors are Pepperdine Law Alumni who have volunteered to help bridge the gap between the academic environment and the professional world. Alumni mentors are expected to be responsive and sensitive to their mentee's concerns and questions about their professional future. Mentors should be respectful and aware of the academic constraints on their mentee's schedule.
If you are interested in becoming a group mentor, YOU MUST BE LOCAL, from LA and Ventura counties, as proximity will affect your ability to participate in activities. Group mentors must meet with their group at least once a month. Participation at New Student Orientation in mid-August is MANDATORY.
If you are an out-of-state alumnus(a) please consider registering to become a one-on-one mentor. It is a great comfort to students who intend to relocate outside of California after they graduate, or choose to take a different state bar exam, to know that there is a Pepperdine Law network in their home state.
Alumni should be aware that depending on the number of students that have registered, it is possible that not all mentors will be paired with a mentee. But we encourage ALL Alumni to still become a mentor, as the Mentoring Program will continue to pair mentors with registered students from the incoming class and current classes each fall.

The Mentoring Program runs throughout the academic year, from August to June, officially beginning at New Student Orientation and ending with a program follow-up survey released in June.
